Jim Thomas makes his 2008-09 All-Canadian Team Selections
PLAYER
OF THE YEAR: Kelly Olynyk - Forward - 6'10" - South Kamloops,
British Columbia.
Kelly
committed to West coast power Gonzaga in December and has an A+ academic average
in the classroom. He scored 54 points in a game in late January in a tournament
in Kelowna, BC. In the B.C. Triple "A" tournament, Olynyk
took his team to the semi-finals where they lost in overtime. In three games
in the tournament, Olynyk scored 100 points and had 47 rebounds.
He was a member of Canada U18 basketball team which won a bronze medal in Argentina
last July under coach Greg Francis. Kelly
is the son of Ken Olynyk, the former coach of the University
of Toronto and current athletic director at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops,
BC.
