Written by Luc Stevenson on Monday, 05 December 2011 Luc Stevenson catches up with Holy Trinity's Nolan Mackenzie. Nolan Mackenzie 5'11 Point Guard Holy Trinity Oakville Gr. 12 Q: What is it about basketball that motivates you? A: The part of basketball that motivates me is being able to notice the development and improvements of my team as well as my personal game and talents throughout the season along with the hard work put in during the summer. Losing motivates me to get better and come back stronger and more prepared the next time. Q: Who is your favourite NBA team and player? A: My favorite NBA team is the OKC thunder because I like there high-paced offense and never give up attitude. My favorite player is Monta Ellis cause he is fearless and poised in everything he does. Q: What's your best basketball memory? A: My greatest accomplishment in basketball is winning the OBA U16 division one championship with Oakville venom. We were the underdogs but we battled, played as a family and stuck to our game the whole way through. Q: What is your worst? A: My worst basketball memory was my entire gr 10 basketball season. It was a major set back because I only played in 4 out of the 35 games because of an awful back injury. I remember watching every game completely upset wishing I could be playing. Q: What's your greatest accomplishment so far with basketball? A: My greatest accomplishment so far in basketball would definitely be my performance this past summer when my summer team traveled to Kentucky. I was noticed as a Canadian standout at the tournament and had two 20 point games along with a game winning buzzer beater in the quarter finals. Q: Who is the most influential person you know? A: The most influential person I know would have to be my dad because of how he lives his life everyday to his fullest and does things not for himself but to benefit my family and me. Q: What is next years plan? A: Next year I plan on returning to play one final year of high school basketball, then I want to go play CIS basketball as a starting point guard and make an immediate impact. Q: What do you want Ontario High school basketball to remember you for? A: I want Ontario basketball to remember me as a great leader and teammate with a killer instinct on the offensive and defensive end. Also that I never give up and I do what it takes for my team to win and be successful.
