As for Magic, thanks for your insightful and intelligent comments you are true to form....stick to commenting on REDA and last years Assumption team as you have done in the past.
Loyola demonstrated some real grit last night as they defeated Nelson. In the past 10 years Loyola were the whipping boys for Nelson as they always seem to fight it out for Halton's AAA rep.
Some observations.
It was ironic that Loyola used the methodical slow down game against Nelson as this has been one tactic Stacey has used for years. Nelson had to abandon the zone and this played into Loyola's strenght as Persutti, L'Africain and others were able to penetrate, score and draw fouls.
Nelson very seldom beats itself with careless turnovers, although Loyola also gave the ball away, it was Nelson that committed crucial turnovers when the game was on the line.
I didn't think that Nelson could be beat on the boards but I felt that last night Loyola marginally did. Loyola's big man(Andrews?) as well as Boney came up with key offensive rebounds and crucial put backs.
Campbell had a good game for Nelson but Marshall was kept in check, a good game but not a dominate one, Nelson's shooter(name?) had on off night by his standards and it impacted on the result.
For me, after watching Nelson play for years, they appeared to be the team that rushed and could not execute when it really mattered. That being said they could have easily
won if Loyola had buckled like so many other teams have done in the past when the game was on the line.
One man's opinion.......
who kept marshall in check george?? in fact you missed the best defender of the game, the difference maker on both ends of the floor.
