2009 Girls Basketball 1 Year, 2 Months ago

Here are my thoughts. Tell me what you think.
Contenders
ND- if Mullins comes back, they are unbeatable
HT- Bonsu gone, can she be replaced? Tons of junior talent moving in or up. Should have had a shot last year but were upset by AP
Loy- lots of players are back and lots of rep kids moving up. Could make a serious run at any team
OT/Nelson- both teams have a few strong seniors back and also have numerous rep kids coming up. Could surprise lots of teams
AP/GT- AP has great scorer back for a fifth year. Lots of rep kids in the area to help strengthen program. If they ever get a more experienced coach, they could surprise some people. Georgetown had a really strong junior team that will move up. He had them in a rep season this year and they will be good.
Who am I missing? Should be an interesting year where most games will be closely contested

You forgot to mention BR (Bishop Reding) , they gave everyone a good run last year, except for ND and HT. I heard that they have a good core of grade 12s coming back and new players from junior div. I also heard they have a grade 9 pg last year (must be an ok player if she played senior at that age) and coaching is also good in BR. "Maybe" top 5 in Halton.
Just my 2 cents..thanks and have a good summer..

Bonsu is back? My bad, I thought she was done. Seems like she's been in the league for a very long time. You would have to think HT has a real shot at ND this year but then again, ND just keeps moving kids up the ranks filling in all the right holes.
In terms of BR being a contender next year, who knows? After one and two in the league it really is wide open with no other power houses, except maybe Loyola. If not for a strange disappearene of the kid from Brampton, they probably would have won their playoff game last year against Nelson. They will start three and maybe four AAA rep kids this year. I have no idea who the coach at BR is, but I do remember watching her yell a lot at officials last year. Not sure they have the rep talent to ever really compete. PG was good, but often was easily taken out of games mentally. Perhaps, this was related to her age, and a very vocal father who yells at her all game.

if bonsu is back then it could be ND VS HT again ...
I heard Abbey Park is loading up with talent too next year.
You are right , aside from the 2 powerhouses , it will be up for grabs from 3 to 8..

i forgot to mention MM robinson and Assumption..as i recall the the standings were pretty close at 5 to 8 for girls last year even though i was more concerned with junior div. i guess we wont know until september..how does HT and ND stay dominant every year, is it because of recruiting the AAA rep players in the area or oakville generally has the best bball players in halton, it goes the same with boys..anyway season is 3 months away..

I have also heard that Abbey Park will be getting loads of rep kids next year. They should be better at all levels if it's true, especially with the fifth year girl back. Question is, will they ever ever get an experienced coach to put it all together? With that said, it seems most Oakville teams have some rep kids but somehow the best ones manage to end up all playing together. It's not uncommon now to see the high school guys running the rep clubs or making frequent apprearences at rep practices to introduce themselves. Guys are trying harder and harder each year, and the girls programs outside of school continue to get better as well. It only makes sense that it's going to take more to put together winning teams that it was before.
