Wow, that's a solid win from Nelson given first place was at stake. Loyola has had a brilliant season overall, but I think it's testament to the strength of the Halton league (top four/five teams at least) that Loyola is having to fight tooth and nail for league victories. This is a legitimate top 5 team in Ontario that looks like it will finish 3rd in the Halton league... interesting and somewhat surprising I think!
So can anyone help confirm the final standings?
By my estimation it the semi's could look like:
#4 STA @ #1 Nelson (where STA won earlier in the year)
#3 Loyola @ #2 HT (have split the year 1-1.... always an intense game)
Two dynamite semis if you ask me, barring any upsets going into the final reg. season games.
Something tells me Loyola is gonna find a way to win this thing, but the rest of Halton certainly hasn't laid down to them.
it should play out like that! I would not be surprised if Sta comes out on top against nelson. However playoff atmosphere is alot more intense then regular season! expect a big fan club from nelson which will make it a close game. sta will finish on top
just a correction loyola has beaten ht twice. they won by 20 earlier in the pinky lewis, lost by 5 and won by 4 (without presutti). However Ht has home advantage. It will be a pakced house and considering thefactor of transfer troy stevenson, should make it even more of an intersting game! Loyola are the favorites to win if they can get some proper referring. I almost feel bad on how much halton refs hate them! Nevertheless Ht will not let their guard down. Any team is beatable on any given day. Wins agasint loyola have shown that. Just don't expect any more freebies from Loyola. The Catholic cup will remind them on how basketball should be played and up thier calibur agaisnt good temas and not not agasint any of the weaker halton teams.
